My New Computer Well I put it off as long as I could but I just had to have a faster computer. First of all the case is a Aopen mid tower with three 5 1/4 slots and two 3 1/2 slots. The motherboard is a Aopen AX6BC which has the Intel 440BX chipset. It has five pci slots and two isa slots and a AGP slot. It has 3 dram slots which will hold a total of 768 meg of memory. I used one 128 meg 7 ns chip for the memory. The processor is a Intel Celeron 400mhz which I am running at 450mhz (UPDATE- -Replaced the 400 with a 1.1ghz Celeron using a slot-1 converter card). The harddrive is an IBM Deskstar 16, 10.1gb with 9.5 access time and udma 33 and I am using a 8.5 gb Maxtor for my backup drive. I am using a Creative Labs Riva TNT 16meg 2d-3d video card. I also have the Creative Labs 5X DVD and 32X CD rom drive. The sound card is a Creative Labs Soundblaster Live. I have a 100meg internal Zip drive on a IDE cable and am very happy with the transfer speeds. The monitor is a 17" Mag Innovision DX700-T with a .25mm aperture grille pitch. I use a Logitech marble+ trackball for a pointing device and I am running a Epson Stylus Color 800 printer with a USB adapter cable that prints at 1440x720. I have a HP 4100 scanner on USB and a four port external powered USB hub. I also have a APC 200 UPS that is a lifesaver. This computer is doing a really good job and the bios with my motherboard is already set up for a PIII, 600, so I will be able to replace the processor with a faster one later on when the prices drop.
